Some love stories begin with a grand gesture. Kathy and Ian’s began with timing.
Their story started on a warm summer night at a Los Angeles music festival, where their college paths crossed at exactly the right place and time. What began with great music, Kathy's fabulous hair, and Ian's unforgettable dance moves quickly turned into wandering the festival grounds, losing track of hours in conversation, and realizing there was something different about this connection. Somewhere between the carnival rides and unexpectedly profound conversations, they both felt a sudden, strange comfort: this feels familiar. What began as an unforgettable time quickly evolved into a lifetime of shared memories and companionship.
As the next ten years unfolded, they slowly built a life they love. They graduated together with their Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Nevada, Reno. They created a home and welcomed their beloved doggos, Taho and Boba. Along the way, they kept saying “yes” to new experiences, spontaneous moments, and adventures that brought them even closer.
When Kathy decided to pursue her Master’s degree and dream opportunities in San Diego, Ian didn’t hesitate to take the leap alongside her. By embracing a new city and a new beginning, he proved early on that true love looks less like grand gestures and more like showing up for each other’s dreams.
Together, they’ve danced through festivals and explored the world—from Japan and Spain to the Philippines, Mexico, Canada, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and more. Through every airport terminal, hidden food stall, and new horizon, one thing remained constant: their shared love of music, culture, and creating spaces where people feel at home.
Now, surrounded by the family and friends who have supported and shaped their journey, they’re excited to celebrate their greatest adventure yet. They can't wait to Cabcún with you!
